Misty Cove Wines
Misty Cove Wines’ approach to winemaking is simple: live your life, and enjoy the wine – preferably in the company of good friends, art, music and definitely great food.
Founded by Andrew Bailey in 2008, Misty Cove Wines continues to be an innovative, modern and progressive wine company who likes to do things differently. Misty Cove Wines’ vineyards are in the world-famous winemaking region Marlborough, which is well known for its Sauvignon Blanc, and Misty Cove Wines’ vineyards are mainly in the Wairau, Waihopai and Awatere Valley. It has been daring enough to create other lesser-known New Zealand varietals like Pinot Gris, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Albariño and even a Bordeaux style barrel fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc, winning awards along the way.
Misty Cove Wines is also one of the first New Zealand wine companies to develop its own Acacia barrel program. Acacia wood originates from forests in northern France, and Misty Cove Wines’ winemakers have discovered that the judicious use of acacia barrels during production adds a floral note while significantly improving texture to their wines.
